Berlin ( pronunciation : [ ˈbɜrlɪn ]) is a place in Hartford County in the US state of Connecticut .
Berlin was founded in 1785 . Based on its name, one can assume that the city founders were former German emigrants. However, no proof of this can be found.
The economy is determined by the cultivation of fruit and vegetables as well as by smaller farms. The majority of the residents work in Hartford .
