Anneliese Steinheuer
Anneliese Steinheuer (born October 12, 1920 ) is a German athlete who specialized in throwing a javelin . She started for ASV Cologne .
Although she was never able to win a German championship (she was runner-up in 1942 and 1943), she was among the top 5 of the world's best list of the year during the Second World War:
- 1941: 4th place (43.29 m)
- 1942: 1st place (47.24 m)
- 1943: 1st place (46.03 m)
- 1944: 3rd place (42.75 m)
The throw over 47.24 m, which she achieved on June 21, 1942 in Frankfurt, not only meant an improvement on the German record, which had stood at 46.27 m since 1939 (held by Luise Krüger ), but also exactly 10 years American Nan Gindele's old world record of 50 centimeters. The world record lasted for 5 years before the Austrian Herma Bauma screwed it to 48.21 m. As the German record holder, Anneliese Steinheuer was only replaced by Marlies Müller in 1951 , who threw 47.35 m.
Anneliese Steinheuer did not have the opportunity to participate in competitions on an international level. The 1944 Olympic Games were canceled due to the war, and the 1946 European Championships in Oslo took place without German participation.
