The station Jestetten is the station of the municipality Jestetten in Baden-Wuerttemberg Waldshut . It is located at 34.33 kilometers of the Eglisau – Neuhausen railway line and is served by two lines of the Zurich S-Bahn .

Legal situation

The railway line through Jestetten has no connection to the rest of the German rail network. It is operated by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) according to Swiss regulations. Therefore, the SBB tariff applies at Jestetten station - although it is located in Germany . However, the German Baden-Württemberg ticket and free travel for the severely disabled are valid on the Eglisau – Neuhausen railway line between Lottstetten , Jestetten, Neuhausen and Schaffhausen and on to Singen (Hohentwiel) .

history

Since the Rhine Falls Railway opened at that time from Schaffhausen via Winterthur to Zurich , especially as the Gotthard feeder, no longer met the needs, the Swiss Northeast Railway decided to build a more direct route. Since the new line at Jestetten and Lottstetten runs through German territory, a state treaty was signed on May 21, 1875 between Switzerland and the Grand Duchy of Baden , which regulates the construction and operation of this line.

The station has not been occupied since 2002. Since then, tickets can only be obtained from machines .

As part of the double-track expansion of the SBB, which began in 2010, and the Schaffhausen S-Bahn project , the Jestetten station was generously redesigned. The station, which was previously double-tracked, was given a stump track for trains ending here, which is now used by a line of the Schaffhausen S-Bahn.

Reception building

The former station building of the station, which is no longer accessible today, was organized by the Swiss Northeastern Railway , built (NOB) 1896/97 on behalf of Th. Knöpfli, Schaffhausen. It is a two-storey solid building in the transition from late classicism to an economical form of historicism with an attached goods hall . On the north side there is a glass extension with a historically interesting mechanical signal box of the "Bruchsal J" type from 1914.
