Anneliese Umlauf-Lamatsch

Anneliese Umlauf-Lamatsch (born March 6, 1895 at Hermsdorf Castle ; † March 18, 1962 in Vienna ; born Anna-Louise Lamatsch Edle von Waffenstein) was an Austrian writer .

Career

Umlauf-Lamatsch worked as a teacher and author. The focus of her literary work is on 40 books, some of which have been published several times. One of the best-known titles is the children's book The Snowmen , published in 1930 .

The younger specialist reception takes a critical look at Umlauf-Lamatsch's works as the ideological bearers of National Socialism during the war years.

Umlauf-Lamatsch was awarded the professional title of professor in 1958 as the first young woman writer in Europe . She died on March 18, 1962 in St. Josef Hospital in Vienna-Hietzing . Her grave is in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 46A, Row 15, No. 20).

Umlauf-Lamatsch was the mother of actress, ballet dancer, writer, director and producer Ellen Umlauf .
