The St. Josef Hospital is a hospital founded in 1930 by the Salvatorian Sisters and belonging to the Vinzenz Group in the 13th district of Hietzing in Vienna .

history

St. Josef Hospital

In 1930 the Salvatorian Sisters took over the Rosenthal Sanatorium in Hacking , a former mental hospital, in order to run their own hospital. Up to this point, they had worked in the Maria Theresien Women's Hospital for more than 30 years . After only five weeks of renovation, the St. Josef Hospital was officially opened on October 19, 1930 by the then Federal President Wilhelm Miklas . Bishop Ernst Karl Jakob Seydl carried out the consecration. In the first phase after the opening there was a department for internal medicine and one for surgery . In 1935/36 an extension was built and the department for gynecology and obstetrics opened.

During the Second World War , the hospital was mainly used as a military hospital . Shortly after the war there was a further expansion and a chapel was built, in which the first mass was celebrated in 1953 . In the 1950s and 1960s, too, there were further extensions and modernizations.

On January 1, 1976 and January 1, 1999, the respective Viennese New Years baby was born in the St. Josef Hospital.

The SDS Health Center has had its own health center at the St. Josef Hospital since 2000. The Vinzenz Group was formed in 2004 together with two other religious hospitals, the Hospital of the Sisters of Mercy in Gumpendorf and the Speising Orthopedic Hospital .

Certifications

In 2009 the St. Josef Hospital received the quality management certificate according to proCumCert (pCC) including KTQ. In the course of this, it was also recognized as the best first-certified hospital in the German-speaking region.
