Annemarie Krauss

Annemarie Krauß (* 1927 ; † May 31, 2006 in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate ) was a German archivist and local history researcher .

Life

Krauss was born as the daughter of the district court director and local researcher Johann-Baptist Fröhlich. She finished her education with the Abitur. She learned the professions of a nurse and a dental technician. Then she studied archives and librarianship in Munich and completed her studies as a qualified archivist FH.

In 1957 she was appointed city archivist to Weiden. She officially held this office for 35 years, but unofficially until the end of her life. In 1964 it published the only printed inventory of a Bavarian city archive to date. Since 1989 she has headed the local history working group in the Upper Palatinate Forest Association . She saved the old school building in Weiden, built in 1565, from demolition and, after its restoration between 1975 and 1979, converted it into a location for the Weiden city museum and city archive.

Krauss was married and had two sons and a daughter. She is buried in pastures in the forest cemetery.

Awards and recognition

Krauss received the Federal Cross of Merit , the Golden Citizen's Medal , the Monument Protection Medal and the Merit Medal of the District Craftsmen for her work .
