Anni Schaad

Anni Schaad (* nee Lang , * December 10, 1911 in Stuttgart ; † December 20, 1988 in Stuttgart) was a jewelry designer and entrepreneur. She is the founder of the Langani fashion jewelry workshop , whose name is derived from a combination of her maiden and first name.

life and career

Anni Schaad was the daughter of the painter, furniture and textile designer Paul Lang-Kurz and of Minna Lang-Kurz , also a textile designer. Her sisters are the fashion photographer Regina Relang and the photographer Urs Lang-Kurz .

Anni Schaad studied at the arts and crafts school in Stuttgart and then in Vienna with Josef Hoffmann at the Wiener Werkstätte . This was followed by further studies at the State School for Applied Arts in Munich with Josef Hillerbrand .

In 1952 she founded her own jewelry workshop, which was named Langani from 1954 . From 1969 to 1989 the workshop worked with the Parisian fashion house Louis Feraud and designed the jewelry for its haute couture and prêt-à-porter collections.

In 1972 Anni Schaad was awarded the Bavarian State Prize with a gold medal at the international craft fair in Munich for "outstanding achievements in the field of fashion jewelry". In 1976 she also received the Baden-Württemberg State Prize.

Anni Schaad was married to the film editor Rudolf Schaad . He ended his film career in the 1950s and became commercial director of Langani . The couple had four children: Katharina (born 1937), Annette (born 1939), Susanne (born 1945) and Michael (born 1955).
