Life

Anny Wienbruch at the beginning of the 20th century

Anny Wienbruch was born as the daughter of a professional soldier in Sablon near Metz and grew up in Weißenburg in Alsace , where her father worked at the land registry . After attending the secondary school for girls, she was accepted into the teachers' seminar in Strasbourg . In 1918 she passed the teacher examination. She got her first job in Weißenburg, but was dismissed and expelled in February 1919 as a so-called Reichsdeutsche in Alsace, which had become French . So she came with her parents to Kierspe in the Sauerland in the home of her father, where she taught as a primary school teacher for 44 years.

Wienbruch wrote around 80 books, with a total circulation of well over 200,000 copies; most of them are children's books. But she also wrote novels, short stories, fairy tales, poems and songs. In the last ten years of her life, she mainly wrote books with historical content.

In Kierspe, the Fritz Linde Museum at Höferhof 23, which has existed since July 26, 2012 and where many pictures, her works and her manuscripts are exhibited, also commemorates Anny Wienbruch.
