Anselina Vladimirovna Polonskaya

Anzhelina Wladimirowna Polonskaja ( Russian Анжелина Владимировна Полонская ; * 1969 in Malachowka , Moscow Oblast ; English also transliterated as Anzhelina / Anjelina Polonskaya), is a Russian author who is best known for her poetry .

life and work

Anshelina Polonskaya studied at the Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport between 1987 and 1992. She graduated with a bachelor's degree . She worked as a professional ice show dancer for several years, including from 1995 to 1997 in Latin America. She published her first volume of poetry in 1993. Since 1998 she has only devoted herself to writing. She also became a member of the Moscow Writers' Union that year, and in 2003 she joined the Russian PEN Center.

Her book A Voice , published in 2004, was shortlisted for the Corneliu Popescu Prize for the Translation of European Poems. The oratorio Requiem: Kursk , whose libretto consisted of 10 poems by Anselina Polonskaya, premiered at the Melbourne Arts Festival in 2001 , the libretto of which consists of ten poems by Anselina Polonskaya. Her poems have been translated into Dutch, Slovenian and Spanish, among others.
