Hörtenberg residence
The Hörtenberg residence is a noble residence in Bolzano and a typical example of the Überetscher style . It is located on Hörtenbergstrasse and has been a listed building since 1951. When Twelve Malgrei became an independent parish in 1849, the meetings of the parish committee took place here, as the landlord Ferdinand von Giovanelli was the parish head from 1849 to 1861 .
The building was originally a simple courtyard called Obergassen or Jochimshof in the St. Johann district of the village . The Hiertmair or Hörtmair family has appeared as its owner since 1471; she was ennobled in 1487 and called herself since 1618 with the permission of the sovereign from and to Hörtenberg. At the end of the 16th century, the Obergassen farm was converted into a residence in its present form. From 1682 the house was owned by the noble Tyrolean family Giovanelli zu Gerstburg and Hörtenberg for centuries .
The mountain slope above with the Oswald promenade got its name (Hörtenberg) from the residence.
In 2019, after careful restoration, a luxury hotel was established in the residence .
