Giovanelli zu Gerstburg and Hörtenberg
Giovanelli zu Gerstburg and Hörtenberg is a South Tyrolean branch of an old noble family from the vicinity of Bergamo who lived at the Gerstburg and Hörtenberg residences . At the beginning of the 17th century, Bernhard von Giovanelli moved his residence to Tyrol and was accepted into the knighthood there. His son Johann Alban (1619–1670) settled in Trient and founded the line of the Counts of Giovanelli zu Gerstburg there. His brother Georg Bernhard (1622–1687), Upper Austrian councilor and court pfennig master of Archduke Ferdinand Karl (Austria-Tyrol), is the progenitor of the baronial line of those of Giovanelli zu Gerstburg and Hörtenberg in Bozen .
