Ignaz Freiherr von Giovanelli zu Gerstburg and Hörtenberg (born April 5, 1815 in Bozen , † August 16, 1889 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian politician.

Ignaz Freiherr von Giovanelli zu Gerstburg und Hörtenberg , from an old Tyrolean aristocratic family, grandson of the well-known Joseph von Giovanelli , who organized national defense with Andreas Hofer in 1809 , studied law, entered the state justice service and was assessor at the regional court in Innsbruck for a long time, then regional judge in Bolzano and lastly was higher regional judge in Innsbruck.

Since 1861 a member of the Tyrolean state parliament , he soon gained great influence as the leader of the ultramontanes and was elected to the state committee. He belonged to the Reichsrat as a member of the House of Representatives since 1867 and joined the right-wing party under Karl Sigmund von Hohenwart .
