Anthares is a Brazilian speed and thrash metal band from São Paulo that was founded in 1985, disbanded in 1996 and re-formed in 2004.
history
The band was founded in 1985 by the drummer Evandro Júnior, the bassist Pardal, the guitarists Cristian and Zé Aranha and the singer Henrique "Poço", where they initially only played cover versions. The band played their first concert in July 1985. This was followed by appearances with bands such as Sarcófago in 1987. In December of the same year, the band released their debut album No Limite da Força . Further concerts followed in 1988 and 1989, together with bands such as Sepultura , Dorsal Atlântica , Ratos de Porão , Korzus and MX . In 1989, guitarist Cristian also left the band to live in Chile , which was his birthplace. He was replaced by Topera, who was previously active at Korzus. A few months later singer Henrique “Poço” left the band and guitarist Aranha was replaced by Maurício in 1991. Towards the end of the year they found a suitable singer in Renato. The band began to write new material which, unlike the previous works, was in English. In 1993 and 1995 a demo followed. In 1996 the band split for personal reasons.
In 2004 the band came together again, with the group now consisting of singer Frank, drummer Evandro Júnior, bassist Pardal and guitarists Topera and Maurício. Various appearances followed in 2005 and 2006. Singer Diego Nogueira joined the band towards the end of 2008. The band played songs with Portuguese lyrics again.
