Anthelia (German Schimmelmoose or Schneetälchenlebermoose ) is a genus of liverwort . It is the only genus of the Antheliaceae family within the order Jungermanniales .
features
The mosses of the genus Anthelia are inhabitants of the high mountains and grow here on snow valleys soils. The very small plants are covered with a waxy layer and form light gray, rarely brownish, flat coatings or low cushions on bare earth. Flank leaves and the similar sub-leaves are deeply bilobed, the shoots therefore appear more or less regularly leafed with three lines. The leaf cells do not contain any oil bodies . Brood bodies are not known.
Systematics
The genus Anthelia contains only two species, both of which are also found in the Alps:
- Anthelia julaceae (kitten-like snow valley liver moss , cushion mold moss )
- Anthelia juratzkana (Juratzka's snow valley liver moss , crusty mold moss )
