Anthelia juratzkana (German Juratzkas Schneetälchenlebermoos , crusts mold moss ) is a liverwort - kind from the family Antheliaceae .
features
Anthelia juratzkana grows on soils of snow valleys and often forms extensive, light gray, flat coverings on bare earth. The very small plants are covered with a waxy layer and are only a few millimeters long. They are densely leafed with roof tiles. The flank leaves as well as the lower leaves are divided up to more than half into two lanceolate lobes. The leaf cells are round, square to rectangular and thin-walled.
The species is monoecious . The egg-shaped perianth is deeply folded and slashed, the seta protrudes only a little from it. The spore capsule is spherical. Brood bodies are not known.
Location claims and distribution
The moss is a character type of alpine snow valleys. In the Alps it is quite common in suitable locations from an altitude of around 2000 meters upwards.
It is distributed arctic-alpine and bipolar worldwide.
