Steve Wachalski (born February 5, 1983 in Koethen ) is a German basketball player. For the 2015/16 basketball Bundesliga , Wachalski returned to the BBC medi Bayreuth after five years, where he made his debut in the top division. He last played there until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Career

Wachalski grew up in Emsland and initially played basketball in Lingen . At the age of 18, he moved to the regional league in Osnabrück in 2001 . In the basketball Bundesliga 2003/04 Wachalski briefly belonged for four weeks to the squad of the first division promoted Dragons from the neighboring municipality of Artland . In the team of coach Chris Fleming , however, he remained without commitment and returned to Osnabrück at the end of the four weeks. In 2008 he rose with the club there in the third highest division ProB . As P4two Ballers you reached a fifth place in the ProB 2008/09 and acquired the right to play for the next higher division ProA . In the ProA 2009/10 , the newcomer achieved a solid midfield placement with ninth place. Then Wachalski was obliged by the second division champion and promoted from Bayreuth . In the basketball Bundesliga 2010/11 they managed to stay up, but Wachalski's playing time was limited to just under ten minutes per game.

For the ProA 2011/12 Wachalski joined the first division relegated Mitteldeutscher BC from Weißenfels and he returned to Saxony-Anhalt , where he was born. With the club he managed the championship in this division and the immediate return to the House of Lords. With just under ten points and a good 5 rebounds per game, Wachalski was one of the team's top performers. After relegation in the basketball Bundesliga 2012/13 on the third from bottom place in the table, Wachalski moved within the league to the Telekom Baskets Bonn in 2013/14 , with whom he also played internationally in the ULEB Eurocup . After a good 10 minutes of playing time and almost four points per game in his first season in Bonn , he was able to increase his individual game shares in the rotation of coach Mathias Fischer in the course of the 2014/15 basketball Bundesliga . On November 22nd, 2014 he set his career best in points against TBB Trier with 26 points and 8 of 10 hit three-pointers in just 15 minutes of playing time. After the contract was not extended, Wachalski switched back to the league competitor from Bayreuth, where he had made his first appearances in the top division five years earlier. His contract with Bayreuth expired after four years, and during his time there he became a crowd favorite.
