Anthony Paul Shaun Daure Grant (born June 4, 1987 in Lambeth ) is an English football player. He was part of the youth department of Chelsea FC and is now under contract with Crewe Alexandra .

Athletic career

The London- born Anthony Grant went through the youth department of Chelsea and came on May 10, 2005 against Manchester United as a substitute for Joe Cole for his first brief appearance in the Premier League . He had previously made a name for himself as a defender in the reserve eleven during the past season and has now been promoted to the professional squad of the reigning English champions for the 2005/06 season. However, he only gained further experience in January 2006, when he was loaned out to third division club Oldham Athletic for a month and played two league games there.

The entire 2006/07 season Grant also hired himself as a loan player and joined the Wycombe Wanderers for this purpose in the fourth-rate Football League Two - the coach Paul Lambert had previously tried to sign Grant for the Scottish Livingston FC . In just over a month, Grant saw the red card twice, but also reached the semi-finals of the League Cup with the club . There you faced Chelsea, who refused his loan player permission to play against his regular club. In March 2007, the young player received a new contract with Chelsea and four months later played again for the A-team of the "Blues" against Brøndby IF .

Next stop was Luton Town between November 2007 and January 2008 . There Grant was only in one game from the start in the team and was one of three players in the "Hatters" who were sent off in his last appearance. Also due to the bankruptcy proceedings in Luton, an extension was no longer an option and so Grant moved on to Southend United in January 2008 . There he played ten league games by the end of the 2007/08 season - without exception as a substitute - and then joined the club on August 7, 2008 for a final free transfer. On September 20, he scored the winning goal for the 4-3 away win against Crewe Alexandra , which was also Grant's first goal in the senior division. Mostly he acted in the "Shrimpers" in the right midfield and was also found on the side of Alan McCormack in the center.

In June 2012 he turned down an offer to extend his contract at Southend and moved to Stevenage FC , for which he played a total of 45 games. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season, the player moved to Crewe Alexandra .

After stints at Port Vale and Peterborough United , he has been playing for Shrewsbury Town in Football League One since summer 2018 .
