description
Antirrhinum latifolium is a perennial , herbaceous plant whose upright, sparsely branched stems reach heights of growth of 60 to 100 cm. The plant is usually completely hairy glandular. The leaves, which are mostly opposite at the bottom and mostly alternate at the top, are 20 to 70 mm long and 8 to 32 mm wide and thus 1.5 to 2.5 times as long as they are wide. Their shape is egg-shaped, blunt and more or less cut off at the base.
The bracts are 5 to 12 mm long and ovate. The flower stalks are 3 to 8 (rarely up to 15) mm long. The calyx is covered with 7 to 9 mm long, broadly ovate and blunt calyx tips. The crown is 33 to 48 mm long and pale yellow.
The fruits are egg-shaped, elongated, glandular hairy capsules with a length of 13 to 17 mm.
Occurrence and locations
The species is distributed from central Italy to north-east Spain . It grows on rocks and stony slopes.
