Antisolabis seychellensis is a rare insect belonging to the Carciniphoridae familywithin the order of the earwigs . The species is endemic to Mahé in the Seychelles .

features

Antisolabis seychellensis , including the forceps, reaches a length of 4.5 to 5 mm. The body color is black. The tips of the femora and all tibiae and tarsi are yellowish-brown. The tibiae are pale dark colored in the middle. The skull is grainy, hairy and blunt. The front sides of the chest are yellowish brown and partially dotted in the middle. The rest of the body is densely dotted and finely haired. The hair is inconspicuous and quite shiny. The eyes are big. The antennae are blackish brown with a number of distal white segments. The clamps are far apart. The symmetrical branches are cylindrical, pointed and slightly curved.

The distribution area is limited to an area of ​​5 km² on the Morné Blanc on the Seychelles island of Mahé. Antisolabis seychellensis can be found in leaf litter in damp forests.

Danger

The IUCN classifies the species as " critically endangered " . The population size is unknown. Habitat degradation caused by invasive plant species, especially Cinnamomum verum and Syzygium jambos , is considered to be the main threat .
