Antiteater

The Munich Antiteater emerged in May 1968 from the Action Theater founded by Ursula Strätz , Horst Söhnlein and Peer Raben in 1966 and was founded on the initiative of Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Peer Raben. It was intended as a counter-model to the State Theater and consisted of Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Peer Raben, Doris Mattes , Hanna Schygulla , Irm Hermann , Kurt Raab , Hans Hirschmüller , Ingrid Caven , Rudolf Waldemar Brem , Harry Baer and Jörg Schmitt.

A total of sixteen pieces were created between August 1967 and September 1969. The author was Fassbinder , he and Peer Raben directed the film. During this time, a solid ensemble crystallized out, which Fassbinder's artistic power also used for itself and in some cases also subordinated itself to him. This enabled Rainer Werner Fassbinder's first ten films to be made, which were made under the - unregistered - company name of antiteater-X-Film, including Katzelmacher , Fassbinder's first feature film and at the same time his artistic breakthrough.

In 1970 the Antiteater broke up because some members of the group had not paid tax on their income and the Munich tax office issued an assumed profit amount from the Antiteater and the antiteater-X-Film as the basis for tax calculations. In addition, there were debts of the antiteater-X-Film, which after lengthy negotiations and providing evidence to the tax office and negotiations with creditors amounted to around 200,000 German marks.

In 1970 the ensemble of the Antiteater received the film tape in gold for the performance in Love is Colder than Death , Katzelmacher and Gods of the Plague .
