Antithesis is the third studio album by the German black metal band Secrets of the Moon . The songs are all designed in a relatively uniform atmosphere, so that none of them stand out in particular.

Emergence

It took the band a year and a half to write the songs. The album was produced again in the Klangschmiede Studio E by Markus Stock , who is friends with the band and worked with them for the second time.

Style and content

The title of the album alludes to both a musical novelty intended by the band and a rejection of the death concept of many religions that teach an afterlife. The song Metamorphosis only contains Latin lyrics. They are written by AD because of his admiration for Ovid and their content is the wickedness of man. The album is produced very clearly. sG wanted to make the "many details that are present in our music" audible.

Together with the two previous albums , Antithesis forms a thematic trilogy on "Life, Evolution and Death", with Antithesis dealing with death.

Cover

On the cover is a nine-pointed star consisting of three displaced, congruent triangles , which is a symbol for the moon. The band logo and the title of the album are printed above and below it. Several lines run towards the center of the image, which is dominated by dark colors.

reception

The album is seen both as a musical advancement of the band and of the German black metal scene. It contains progressive elements and is similar to Now, Diabolical by Satyricon minimalist. According to the website maelstrom.nu, the “intellectual Black Metal” might be difficult to understand for some, even if they think it's better than the “uncomplicated Satanism at Carpathian Forest ”. Although he praised the further development of the style with this album, the music is too poorly thought out for the reviewer "Richard".
