Antonín Petrof (born August 15, 1839 in Hradec Králové ; † September 9, 1915 there ; also Anton Petrof ) was a Bohemian piano maker .

In 1857 he was 18 years old when he came to visit Jan Heitzmann in Königgrätz . Heitzmann was his maternal uncle and, together with his partner Hölzl, was already a well-known piano manufacturer in Vienna . Petrof learned the trade in Vienna and returned to Bohemia in 1864, where he built his first piano over a period of months. In 1865 he converted his father's carpentry in the old town behind the Heiliggeistkirche into a piano workshop .

A few months before the Battle of Königgrätz in 1866, his company A. Petrof was registered . After a brief interruption, production resumed. In 1874 his company moved to new premises on the outskirts of the city. In addition to pianos, harmonies were also made.

The company grew and in 1880 a branch was opened in Temešvár . One year later, in 1881, the company began to construct its own keyboard and mechanism. Piano production began in 1883 .

The first instruments were exported from 1894/5 and Petrof was able to establish himself quickly. A warehouse and office were set up in Vienna. His customers included the nobility and the imperial court. In 1899 Petrof was appointed supplier to the imperial and royal court , a few years later he was the largest piano manufacturer in the monarchy. Petrof was also appointed councilor.

1908, the company became a general partnership changed his wife Marie Petrofová was an authorized signatory of the company. In addition to the company's founder, his sons Jan, Antonín and, from 1914, the youngest, Vladimír from the 2nd generation, also worked here.
