Anton Bettendorf
Anton Joseph Hubert Maria Bettendorf, also Bettendorff (born June 1, 1839 in Ensival ; † October 28, 1902 in Bonn ) was a German chemist.
Anton Bettendorf grew up in a wealthy entrepreneurial family. When Hans Heinrich Landolt he had at the University of Bonn held from 1861 to 1863 a job as an assistant. He then did research as a private scholar and maintained a laboratory in Bonn. He investigated the chemistry of the lanthanides and developed a detection of arsenic and its compounds by reaction with tin (II) chloride and hydrochloric acid ( Bettendorf's reagent ).
Bettendorf was married to Johanna Maria Hubertine Gabriele geb. David.
