Anton Diel

Anton Diel (born January 25, 1898 in Horressen near Montabaur ; † April 6, 1959 there ) was a German politician of the SPD .

Life and work

After elementary school , Diel, who was of the Roman Catholic faith, completed an apprenticeship in the building trade. In the First World War he served as a soldier. From 1919 on he worked as an electrician in Cologne and Koblenz . Since July 1948 he was employed by the labor administration.

Political activity

Diel joined the SPD in 1926 and was arrested for political reasons in 1933. After the Second World War he was chairman of the SPD sub-district for the Montabaur administrative region . From 1948 Diel was a member of the district council and the district committee in the Unterwesterwaldkreis . He was a member of the German Bundestag from the first federal election in 1949 until his death. He always entered parliament via the SPD's Rhineland-Palatinate state list.

In the ÖTV trade union , he was chairman for the Montabaur administrative region . He was a member of the Kreissparkasse board of the Kreissparkasse for the Unterwesterwaldkreis.

From 1945 to 1948 Diel was mayor of Horressen.
