Anton Gliszczynski

Count Anton Gliszczynski (Polish Antoni Gliszczyński , born January 7, 1766 in Roznów , † December 25, 1835 in Warsaw ) was a Polish nobleman and politician.

Life

Gliszczyński was the son of Count Józef Gliszczyński (approx. 1730–1799), who was deputy magistrate of Poznan from 1779–1786 , and his wife Eleonora.

He himself held various high state offices from 1791. He was a member, for the Poznan Voivodeship , of the four-year-old Sejm (1788–1792) and supported the constitution of May 3, 1791 , the first modern constitution in Europe. During the Targowica Confederation , he was one of the initiators of the patriotic conspiracy and actively participated in the preparations for the Kościuszko uprising .

After the Napoleonic invasion and the peace of Tilsit in 1807 he became a member of the Supreme Military and Administrative Council in the Duchy of Warsaw and from May 1807 prefect of the department of Bydgoszcz (Bromberg).

During the time of the Kingdom of Poland ( Congress Poland ) he became a member of the State Council in 1815, a senator from 1817, and a judge of the highest court from 1818.

In 1830 he took part in the November uprising and the associated deposition of Tsar Nicholas I as King of Poland by the Polish Sejm . On May 14, 1831 he became Minister of the Interior and Police in the government of Prince Adam Jerzy Czartoryski . In June and July 1831 he was temporarily Marshal of the Senate in the Sejm.

Marriages and children

  • Gliszczyński was married to Marianna Kwilecka (approx. 1768-1838) from around 1780. The daughter Karolina Gliszczyńska (* 1789) came from this marriage.
  • In his second marriage he married Franciszka Rzętkowska (* approx. 1770) around 1790. This marriage gave birth to the daughters Walentyna Gliszczyńska and Benigna Gliszczyńska.
