Anton Immendorf

Anton Immendorf (born October 20, 1921 in Büsbach ; † July 28, 2007 in Stolberg ) was a German master mason, building contractor , association official and president of the Aachen Chamber of Crafts .

Life

Anton Immendorf was born in 1921 in Büsbach, later a district of Stolberg (Rhineland), as the son of the building contractor Edmund Immendorf and his wife Maria (née Worms). In addition to his job as a master mason and building contractor in Stolberg, Anton Immendorf was an association official in his guild and the Aachen Chamber of Crafts (HWK). After having completed several functions in the respective subdivisions, he was elected President of the Aachen Chamber of Crafts from 1974 to 1994.

During his tenure, Immendorf was instrumental in ensuring that the Chamber's educational centers were supplemented, expanded and modernized. This includes the expansion of the craftsmen's houses in the Kommern open-air museum and, in 1972, the expansion of the vocational and trade promotion center (BGZ) in Simmerath , the establishment of the vocational training and trade promotion facility (BGE) in Düren in 1980 and the BGE opened in Aachen in 1983, which he had 33 workshops and 17 seminar rooms equipped as a model project with nationwide coverage, on his initiative. In 1985, in cooperation with the FH Aachen and its rector Hildegard Reitz, he arranged the establishment of the Academy for Craft Design and Management, which has been based at Gut Rosenberg in Aachen-Horbach since 1994 . In addition, Immendorf agreed on binding partnerships with RWTH Aachen University and the FH Aachen and in particular with the Institute for Plastics Processing at RWTH Aachen University.

In addition, Immendorf initiated the International Craftsmen Market, which has been held annually in Aachen since 1977, and organized the German Chamber of Crafts in 1985 and 1994 together with the HWK Aachen . Furthermore, together with Manfred Bredohl , he brought the World Blacksmiths Congress to Aachen in 1986 and 1991.

In addition to his work as President of the HWK Aachen, Immendorf also took on central offices in the organizations of the craft at the state and federal level. For example, from 1976 to 1994 he headed the main committee for trade promotion at the German Chamber of Crafts and Crafts and from 1982 to 1988 the state trade promotion office for North Rhine-Westphalian crafts. In addition, Immendorf was a member of the Crafts Council of the Central Association of German Crafts from 1978 to 1994 .

Honors

Immendorf has received numerous national and international awards for his tireless voluntary work as an association official. He was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and, in 1996, the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . In 2002 he was awarded the Rheinlandtaler .

In addition, the Central Association of German Crafts awarded him the gold trade mark and the Aachen Chamber of Crafts appointed him honorary president and awarded him the HWK's ring of honor. Immendorf also received an honorary doctorate and honorary citizen from RWTH Aachen University.
