Anton Josef Schatz (born June 12, 1902 in Telfs , † January 5, 1968 in Hohenems ) was an Austrian politician ( National Socialist German Workers' Party ).

Live and act

After attending primary school, Schatz learned the butcher and smoked trade in his parents' shop . In 1920 he went to Innsbruck for further vocational training and from 1922 worked again for his parents. In 1923 he founded the butcher's cooperatives Telfs, Imst and Landeck. In the same year he began to get involved politically in the home ward group of Telfs.

In 1924 Schatz became the local group leader of the trade and trade association . From 1926 to 1930 he was a member of the Tyrolean Trade Council.

In 1931, Schatz joined the NSDAP ( membership number 613.917). In May 1933 he was arrested for the first time for his National Socialist activities, although the imprisonment lasted only one day. He was arrested again on June 12, 1933, this time for a fortnight. A third arrest on January 30, 1934 resulted in the transport to the Wöllersdorf detention center , where he remained until the end of April 1934. In 1937 he was sentenced to four months in prison and six months in jail, five and a half of which he served.

From 1933, Schatz served as the district propaganda leader. In 1934 he was appointed district manager of Telfs and from 1935 to 1938 district manager of Telfs. In this capacity he was commissioned to reorganize the Imst and Landeck districts in the spring of 1937. In 1938 he became master craftsman in the Alpine region and chairman of the Chamber of Crafts in Innsbruck .

From April 1938 until the end of the Nazi regime in spring 1945, Schatz was a member of the Greater German Reichstag, which was renamed after the Anschluss .

From November 1939 to April 1940, he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . In the SS he reached the rank of Hauptsturmführer in 1943.
