Anton Kreuzer (soccer player)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anton "Fritz" Kreuzer , (also Kreutzer ; * 1895 ; † unknown) was an Austrian football player. The cruiser used in Sturm und Mittelfeld won the Austrian Cup in 1922 with the Vienna Association Football Club . In Italy he played for Torino FC and AC Napoli . With the Neapolitans he is also the first coach in the club's history.

Career

Anton Kreuzer first appeared in the first division in March 1921 as a player in Wiener AF. By 1924 he played a total of 52 times - initially on the right wing and from 1923 as a right runner - in league matches for the Hütteldorfer and scored six goals.

The greatest success was winning the Austrian Cup in 1922, when the WAF on the Hohe Warte in front of 10,000 spectators after a 0-1 deficit defeated the Wiener Amateur SV, which was renamed FK Austria Wien in 1926 , 2-1. Right at the beginning of the game, Kreuzer almost scored the 1-0. After his shot, some observers had the impression that the amateur goalkeeper spent the ball just behind the goal line in his defense. The best-known comrades-in-arms of Kreuzer included goalkeeper Otto Janczik , Maximilian Gold and Adolf "Adi" Fischera , the big star of the WAF.

In June 1923 he traveled with the Austrian national team to the international match in Sweden, but was not used there in the game against the hosts. But he was able to console himself with one participation and one goal in the 4-2 win in an unofficial game against a West Swedish selection.

After the WAF occupied insignificant places in the league in the middle of the table in the years before, he was at the end of the 1923/24 season with only seven points from 22 games, beaten in the last place in the table. With the resulting relegation, a lasting decline began for the club. Important players left the club; Goalkeeper Otto Janczik, for example, moved to SK Rapid Wien , attacking players Anton Powolny , who moved to AC Reggiana , and Anton Kreuzer, to Torino FC , tried their luck as legionnaires in Italy.

Kreuzer met two other Austrians in Turin: Karl Stürmer , former player with the Vienna AC and First Vienna FC , in 1915 as a master coach with the WAC, now looked after Torino and Heinrich Schönfeld , previously with SpC Rudolfshügel , was with Torino since 1923 reigning Italian top scorer. In general, Austrian players and coaches were very popular in Italy at the time. Among the coaches, for example, Hermann Felsner and Anton "Toni" Cargnelli stood out, who won four or two championships and once or twice the Italian Cup .

At Christmas Rapid traveled from Vienna to Turin for a friendly match. In a preliminary report the Wiener Sport-Tagblatt said: “This year the cruiser is playing there. He is the real star of the team, and that suggests that Rapid will remain victorious, because there are some people in the Hütteldorfer team who tower above the certainly capable cruiser or are at least equal to him. " Rapid won the game with 5: 2.

Kreuzer's time at Torino was not particularly successful. In the two-part First Division North, Torino took sixth and second place among twelve participants, which did not qualify for the qualifying games for the national championship. Kreuzer was a regular player and was used a total of 39 times. In each of his two seasons with the club, he scored one goal.

For the season 1926/27 he became player-coach for just a merger of Naples Foot-Ball Club with Foot-Ball Club Internazionale-Naples , often abbreviated as Internaples referenced emerged Associazione Calcio Napoli , now Napoli . However, his year there was not very successful. In 18 games, the Neapolitans came only once to a single draw and was thus beaten down in the table. Kreuzer took part in all games and scored two of Naples' seven goals. After the end of the season, Kreuzer returned to Vienna.

From the spring of 1928 Kreuzer worked for the German-Bohemian club DSV Saaz , with which he was group champion in the Northwest Gau several times.
