Anton Schwarz (politician)

Anton Schwarz (born May 4, 1872 in Zwettl an der Rodl , Upper Austria ; † December 3, 1946 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ).

Life

Anton Black, the son of an innkeeper from Zwettl an der Rodl , visited after the elementary school , the lower secondary school in Linz . He did his military service from 1893 to 1894 with the Kaiserjäger in Schwaz in Tyrol . After his return to Zwettl, he took over his parents' inn.

In 1897, at the age of only 25, Anton Schwarz was elected mayor of Zwettl. He then held this position for 22 years, until 1919. Under his aegis, the Rodl and Distlbach , which repeatedly cause severe flood damage in Zwettl, were regulated; A new school building for the market town was also built in Zwettl and the road to Geng and Oberneukirchen was redesigned.

In 1909, Schwarz entered the Upper Austrian Landtag as a member, to which he was to belong until 1925. Governor Johann Nepomuk Hauser also called Schwarz into his state government, in which he was responsible for the economic department from 1922 to 1925.

In addition to his political activities, Schwarz was also a member of various committees, including being Regional Council Commissioner for the State Mortgage Company and Vice President of the Catholic People's Association for Upper Austria.

In July 1925, Schwarz took on his last political mandate when he moved to Vienna as a member of the Federal Council. After leaving the second Austrian parliamentary chamber in May 1931, he retired into private life.

On June 12, 1915 he was made an honorary citizen of Zwettl an der Rodl. On January 25, 1917, Anton Schwarz received the Golden Cross of Merit with the Crown from the state and on August 11, 1931 the Golden Medal of Honor for services to the Republic of Austria .
