Anton Skulberg

Anton Skulberg (born December 29, 1921 in Oslo ; † August 30, 2012 in Spydeberg ) was a Norwegian university professor and politician of the Senterpartiet (Sp). From October 1972 to October 1973 he was the minister of church and education in his country.

Life

In 1943 Skulberg attended an agricultural school before he began studying veterinary medicine , which he graduated in 1949. Until 1953 he practiced as a veterinarian in Spydeberg. He then worked at the Norwegian Veterinary School in the field of food hygiene. In 1957 he took part in a UN mission in Egypt , the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF). From 1961 Skulberg researched in the field of food preservation. Between 1963 and 1967 he was mayor of Spydeberg and member of the Fylkesting of Østfold . In 1965 he received his doctorate from the veterinary college. In 1966 he spent six months at the University of California and the University of Wisconsin .

Skulberg first moved into the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , in 1969 . There he represented the province of Østfold in two legislative periods until 1977 . On October 18, 1972, he was appointed Minister of Churches and Education in the civil government of Korvald . He held the office until the end of the government on October 16, 1973.

After the end of his time in Parliament he was a professor at the Norwegian Veterinary School until 1991. At the same time he was head of the Norwegian Institute for Food Research until 1988. In 1989, as a first-class knight, he was awarded the Order of Saint Olav . His son Per Kristian Skulberg later became Norwegian State Secretary.
