Antonio Baldini (writer)

Antonio Baldini (born October 10, 1889 in Rome , † November 6, 1962 ) was an Italian writer.

Life

Antonio Baldini was the son of Conte Gabriele Baldini and Sofia Alkaique. He studied at La Sapienza University in Rome and graduated in 1916.

In 1919 Baldini co-founded La Ronda magazine and since 1931 publisher of La Nuova Antologia magazine .

In 1941 he took part in the " European Poets' Meeting " organized by the Nazi German cultural propaganda in Weimar .

Baldini is the father of the Italian literary scholar Gabriele Baldini . In 1950 and 1959 he was president of the respective Quadriennale di Roma .

Baldini wrote impressionistic travel sketches, autobiographical pieces, short stories, character pictures, and essays. In 1957 he received the Antonio Feltrinelli Prize for his literary work.
