Life
Antonio Brizzi was a student of the famous tenor singer Anastasio Masso . From 1787 he made an important career as a tenor at the major Italian theaters. His assignments at La Scala in Milan included his appearances in the world premiere of the opera Clitennestra by Niccolò Antonio Zingarelli (1800) and that of I Baccanali di Roma by the Italian composer Giuseppe Nicolini (1801). The range of his tenor voice with the timbre of a high baritone was three octaves. He was also certified as having great skill in expressive acting.
In 1801 Brizzi came to the Italian Opera in Vienna . In Munich he was the first tenor at the court opera there from 1810 to 1817 and was the darling of the audience. His daughter Caroline , who was trained as a soprano , also performed in Munich from 1810 to 1815 and occasionally sang with her father. Brizzi also garnered much applause at concerts and guest performances in Paris, among others .
In 1817 Brizzi retired in Munich, then lived alternately in Tegernsee and Munich and gave singing lessons. In July 1852 he received the pension under Napoleon III, which had been suspended by Emperor Napoleon but refused by the Bourbons and Louis-Philippe I. paid off again. He died on April 11, 1854 in Tegernsee.
His son Charles Brizzi (1822–1876) became a relatively well-known landscape painter, whose best-known work is a panorama picture of the Ötztaler Kreuzspitze above Vent , which he made in 1868 on behalf of the local curate and glacier pastor Franz Senn .
