Antonio Caccia the Elder

Antonio Caccia the Elder (born January 22, 1806 in Morcote , † August 27, 1875 in Como ) was a Swiss writer of the Italian language. He was the uncle of Antonio Caccia the younger .

Life

After studying medicine in Rome, he wrote his doctoral thesis in botany and forensic medicine in Edinburgh and Cambridge . He then returned to Ticino and was appointed Colonel of the National Guard of the Canton of Ticino. As a traveler he visited u. a. the USA , crossed Siberia and advanced to China , about which he wrote travel reports.
