Antonio F. Crespo
Antonio F. Crespo (born December 3, 1851 in Paraná , † July 7, 1893 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine ophthalmologist and second mayor of Buenos Aires.
Life
Antonio Crespo grew up in Paraná in the Entre Ríos province and studied medicine in Buenos Aires. After completing his studies in 1875, he went to Europe to continue his education there. On his return he became professor of hygiene at his former faculty and at the same time specialized in ophthalmology. In 1879 he took over the chairmanship of the Círculo Médico Argentino .
In 1887 he was a member of the National Congress for his home province . In the same year he was also appointed mayor of Buenos Aires by President Miguel Juárez Celman . He held this office from May 14, 1887 to August 14, 1888 and resigned to serve as senator in the National Congress. Crespo died five years later, at the age of 41, in Buenos Aires. The Villa Crespo district in Buenos Aires was named in his honor.
