Antonio García , full name Antonio Jésus García Robledo (born March 6, 1984 in La Llagosta , province of Barcelona ), is a Spanish handball player . García is mostly used on the left back space .

Career

The 1.90 m tall and 97 kg heavy right-hander began playing handball at BM Granollers when he was 14 . From 2003 he signed his first contract and played first in the second, from 2005 in the first team. With Granollers he reached the final of the EHF European Cup Winners' Cup 2009/10 , where he was defeated by VfL Gummersbach . Due to the economic situation, he left Granollers in 2011 and switched to Ademar León . With León he lost to FC Barcelona despite seven goals in the final of the Copa ASOBAL 2011/12 . In 2010/11 and 2011/12 he was voted the best left backcourt player in the ASOBAL league . The French club Paris Saint-Germain signed him for the 2012/13 season , with whom he won the French championship in 2013 and the French Cup in 2014. With PSG he took part in the EHF Champions League 2013/14 and qualified for the quarter-finals. For the 2014/15 season he moved to the Hungarian club Pick Szeged . In the summer of 2016 he joined the Danish first division club KIF Kolding København . In March 2017, García was signed by the Spanish club FC Barcelona to compensate for Lasse Bredekjær Andersson's injury-related loss . With Barcelona he won the Spanish championship and the Spanish cup in 2017. In the 2017/18 season he is under contract with the Romanian first division club CSM Bucharest . He then switched to the Spanish club BM Granollers . García moved to the French first division club HBC Nantes in September 2019 . In summer 2020 he will return to BM Granollers.

National team

Antonio García is part of the Spanish national team . At the 2013 World Cup in his own country, he became world champion. A year later he won the bronze medal at the 2014 European Championships in Denmark. So far, he has played 78 international matches in which he scored 145 goals.
