Antonio Keithflen McDyess (born September 7, 1974 in Quitman , Mississippi ) is a retired American basketball player who was active in the NBA from 1995 to 2011 .

NBA career

McDyess was in 1995 to second place by the Los Angeles Clippers drafted and shortly thereafter to the Denver Nuggets transferred. For his achievements in his first year as a professional, he was appointed to the NBA All-Rookie First Team . He had his most successful time with the Nuggets, where he hung up an average of 20 points and 9 rebounds. With an interruption in 1997-98, in which he played for the Phoenix Suns , McDyess was the leading player in the Nuggets and was appointed to the All-NBA Third Team in 1999 , and in 2001 in the NBA All-Star Game .

During the 2001-02 season, McDyess suffered a serious knee injury. He completed only 10 games for the Nuggets and fell out of the entire 2002-03 season. After his return he was never able to build on his successful time from nuggets and the next positions at the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns were short-lived. McDyess moved to reigning NBA champion Detroit Pistons in 2004 . In Detroit, McDyess initially came off the bench to replace Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace , but became a regular and an important part of the team after Ben Wallace's departure. As part of a player swap, McDyess returned to Denver in November 2008, but was not signed up and rejoined the Pistons.

In July 2009 he switched to the San Antonio Spurs , where he ended his career after the 2010/2011 season.

National team

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , he was part of the US selection that won the gold medal.
