Antonio Pasculli

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antonio Pasculli (born October 13, 1842 in Palermo , † February 23, 1924 there ) was an Italian oboist and composer.

Life

Antonio Pasculli was very popular in Italy at the end of the 19th century, when concerts for wind instruments were “in fashion” there for a short time ; after the turn of the century it was quickly forgotten. As was common practice in his time, he took up themes from well-known operas (for example by Vincenzo Bellini , Gaetano Donizetti , Gioacchino Rossini and Giuseppe Verdi ) for his lectures , which he then reworked into fantasies for oboe . His style is characterized by very fast scales and broken chords , which literally hardly allow the soloist to catch his breath.

Some of the z. Manuscripts, some of which were illegible, and the oboist's instruments were given to the Italian oboist Omar Zoboli by his two daughters, Concetta (born in 1898) and Laura (born in 1902), who were still alive at the time (1985) in recognition of his services to Pasculli's work.

Some works by Antonio Pasculli in new editions by O. Zoboli:

  • Ricordo di Napoli for oboe and strings
  • I Vespri Siciliani (Musica Rara)
  • Poliuto (Musica Rara)
  • 15 Capricci a guisa di studi
Edits
  • His arrangements of La favorita and I vespri siciliani and his piece Le Api were orchestrated by Giacomo Zani at the suggestion of Zoboli (Sonzogno, Milano).
