Antonio Rea

Antonio Rea , also known by the nickname El Negro ( Spanish for The Black ) because of his dark skin color , is a retired Mexican soccer player in the position of a striker .

career

Antonio "El Negro" Rea, who was probably born in Guadalajara , Jalisco , or at least grew up there, whose appearance, according to an older newspaper article, resembled a Cuban or Brazilian , began playing football at the Audax club in his hometown. His particular strengths were dribbling , a dangerous header game and the ability to shoot with both feet.

In 1947 Rea received a professional contract from the neighboring club Club Deportivo Guadalajara and scored three goals in the top Mexican division for Chivas in the 1947/48 season .

In the 1949/50 season Rea played at Club Deportivo Tampico , for which he scored a total of 7 goals in the first eight matches; including a "three-pack" in the home game of the second matchday against CF Asturias , which was lost 3-5.

Later Rea played, among others, or for the also in Guadalajara -based club Internacional in the then second-rate Segunda División .
