The Antoniuskapelle is located in the district town of Mühlhausen in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia .

history

The Antonius Hospital in Mühlhausen had been in existence since 1207 and was used to care for the sick and elderly. The associated Antonius chapel was first mentioned in 1270 when the polygonal choir was added. A sacristy was added a little later .

The natural stone surfaces of the facade were carefully cleaned and re-grouted between 2003 and 2005 as part of a listed building renovation. As part of the historic Hauptmannviertel, the renovated chapel was awarded the Thuringian Monument Protection Prize in 2006. Since the renovation, the chapel has been part of the AntoniQ group hostel as a seminar and meeting room .
