Antoschka (born December 5, 1954 ), whose real name is actually Jekaterina Michailowna Moschajewa (Russian: Антошка or Екатеринa Михайловна Можаева), is a Russian artist and clown . Her appearance - with messy red hair and freckles - is modeled on the Soviet cartoon character Antoschka .

Life

Ekaterina Moshayeva actually wanted to be a ballet dancer when she was young . These plans failed due to a long illness and through a friend she got into the Russian circus industry more by chance. She was trained as a clown at the Moscow State Circus and created her character Antoschka, which was so successful that she only appeared under this name afterwards and is also known worldwide as Antoschka.

Between 1989 and 2005 she performed several thousand performances in 35 countries with the Moscow State Circus. In 1990 she moved to Germany and has lived in the Korschenbroich district of Glehn ever since . From 1993 to 1995 she had her own show as part of the globally touring revue Holiday on Ice . In the ring she acts as a reprise clown (who fills the breaks between the performances) and as a music clown - e.g. B. at the Russian State Circus , the Danish Circus Benneweis and Circus Carl Busch . She has made guest appearances in Japan, Chile, La Reunion, the Netherlands and France, among others.

Since 2003 she has also appeared as a solo artist. As a project of her own troupe - Antoschka's Clowns Theater - she developed the stage programs Diva and Clown in the tradition of Commedia dell'arte and Solo for a clown (based on Henry Miller's The Smile at the Foot of the Ladder ).

In 2009, 2010 and 2011 she initiated circus-pedagogical projects and in 2012 created a three-year project with children with the gymnastics circus of the Lower Saxony Gymnastics Association.

In 2014/2015 she performed with Oleg Popov at the Christmas Circus in Landau in the Palatinate in front of more than 35,000 spectators in 30 performances. Since 2014 she has her own theater (KLUNNI - Stage for Clowns & Culture) in Glehn.

The public and the media gave her the honorary title of "Queen of the Clowns".
