Anurut

Anurut or Anurathurat (Anurudha, full throne name Somdet Brhat Chao Maha Edama Varman Krung Sri Sadhana Kanayudha Udarattanaputri Rama Brahma Chakrapati Mahanayaka Maharjadhana Lan Chang Krung Klao Anuradhuratta * 1737 in Luang Phrabang ; † 31 December 1819 ibid) was from 1792 to 1817 King of Luang Phrabang .

Anurut was born in 1738 as the son of King Inta Som (r. 1723 to 1749) and his second wife, Queen ( Mahadevi ) Dhanakama, and was educated at court. In 1768 Suriyavong II appointed him Viceroy ( Maha Uparat ), making him the official heir to the throne. In May 1788 he came to Bangkok as a hostage of the Siamese , from where he was allowed to return to Luang Phrabang after the death of King Suriyavong on February 3, 1792 and was recognized as the new king.

Anurut was crowned in Luang Phrabang in 1792, but shortly afterwards, on the orders of King Rama I of Siam, he was removed from his throne and taken to Bangkok as a prisoner. On June 2, 1794 he was able to return to Luang Phrabang again. In 1817 he gave up the throne in favor of his eldest son Manthatulat (ruled 1817 to 1836).

Anurut died on December 31, 1819, leaving six sons and three daughters among them

  4. Prince ( Anga Sadet Chao Fa Jaya ) Rajabhaya (Ratsaphay), who initiated a rebellion under Vietnamese influence, was exiled to Bangkok, where he died
  5. Prince ( Anga Sadet Chao Fa Jaya ) Unga Kaeva ( Ung Kaeo ), viceroy of Luang Phrabang and for a short time (1838) regent of the empire
