Manthatulate

Manthatulat or Manthathurath (full throne name Somdet Brhat Chao Maha Sri Vitha Lan Chang Hom Khao Luang Prabang Mangthaduraja ; * 1772 in Luang Phrabang ; † March 7, 1837 there ) was king of Luang Phrabang between 1817 and 1837 .

Manthatulat was born Prince ( Sadet Chao Fa Jaya ) Mangthana (Mueang Thaen) in 1772 and was the eldest son of King Anurut . He was trained at court, later he continued his studies at Wat Phra Kaeo ( Bangkok ) and at Wat Mahathat . In 1791 he was made the prospective heir to the throne and received the title Raja Varman. When his father gave up his throne in 1817, Manthatulat became regent of the empire, and after his father's death on December 31, 1819, he was also king of Luang Phrabang. The coronation took place in Luang Phrabang in 1820. Between 1825 and 1826 he served as a Buddhist monk in Bangkok and then returned to the throne.

Manthatulat was married several times and after his death on March 7, 1837 left behind nine sons and six daughters, including:

  1. Prince ( Anga Sadet Chao Fa Jaya ) Sukra Sumaya ( Sukaseum ), his successor as King of Luang Phrabang
  2. Prince ( Anga Sadet Chao Fa Jaya ) Nandaraja (Nantharath) who became King of Luang Phrabang as Tiantha
  3. Prinz ( Anga sadet Chao Fa Jaya ) Bunuyathunga (Pho Nua Thong), was added at the Royal Page corps formed in Bangkok and went into Siamese services 1826; he killed his mother in a fit of anger
  4. Prince ( Anga Sadet Chao Fa Jaya ) Angama ( Oun Kham ), later also King of Luang Phrabang
  5. Viceroy ( Maha Uparat ) Kamaduva (Khamdu) of Luang Phrabang
