Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin [ ˈiːvʲɪn̠ʲ nʲiː ˈhuːl̠ʲəˌvˠɑːnʲ ] (* 1983 in Castlebar , Ireland ) is an Irish musician, television and radio presenter. She is the 2005 Rose of Tralee winner .

Life

Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin was born as the eldest daughter of two teachers. She has five younger brothers with whom she is a member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann , the Irish Musicians' Association. She has already won the national music competition Fleadh Cheoil in the field of singing . After graduating from high school, she studied theoretical physics at University College Dublin . In 2009, she began on Trinity College of the University of Dublin studying to become a teacher. During her studies she taught mathematics, physics and the Irish language. Since 2011 she has been writing her dissertation at the same college in the field of mathematics teaching.

Ní Shúilleabháin achieved national fame by winning the renowned Rose of Tralee . After she won the preliminary round at a local Mayo Rose on June 15, 2005 in her hometown Castlebar with the song Summerfly by Maura O'Connell and her own guitar accompaniment, she toured the country and was already valid before the Rose of Tralee on August 23, 2005 as a big favorite. Her award ceremony was broadcast by the national television channel RTÉ Television , with an audience rate of 75%.

In 2007 Ní Shúilleabháin toured Japan, the US and Europe as the lead singer of Ragús, a traditional Irish-oriented band. During the concerts she distinguished herself by playing the concertina and singing sean nós . In 2007 she was also a member of the comedy show The Panel on RTÉ Two and in 2008 she took part in the show RTÉ One on RTÉ One . During her studies she moderated a few events at the Science Gallery . In July 2010 she was also ambassador for Seachtain na Gaeilge , an association for the preservation and promotion of the Irish language. In July 2009, she hosted the television show The Reel Deal for six episodes . She is currently moderating the travel show Getaways together with Joe Lindsay . In 2013 she was also the presenter for the ten-week radio show Aoibhinn and Company on RTÉ Radio 1 .

In May 2009 it was announced that Ní Shúilleabháin is in a relationship with Irish talk show host Ryan Tubridy .
