Aparicio Saravia da Rosa (born August 16, 1856 in Pablo Páez near Santa Clara de Olimar in the Cerro Largo Department , Uruguay ; † September 10, 1904 in Carovi , Brazil ) was a Uruguayan military and politician .

Aparicio Saravia was born the fourth of thirteen children to the Brazilian Francisco Saraiva and Propicia Da Rosa . At the age of 14 he took part in the Revolución de las Lanzas , which was directed against the government of Lorenzo Batlle , from 1870 to 1872 . He was a member of the Partido Nacional and in the Uruguayan civil war 1903/04 revolutionary leader ( Caudillo ) of the Blancos against the Colorado government. He was also involved with his brother Gumercindo Saravia in the Riograndens revolutionary movement of 1893. Saravia died on September 10, 1904 at 1:35 p.m. on a Brazilian estancia as a result of being shot in the stomach from right to left at the Battle of Masoller on September 1, 1904. His great-great-grandson Villanueva Saravia (1964-1998) was also active as a politician.
