The Apia Park is a multifunctional sports complex in Apia , capital of Samoa . It is the home stadium of the Samoan national rugby union team .
The complex includes a stadium with a capacity of 8000 seats, a gym , a tennis and a netball court .
history
The stadium opened in 1924 and was the first to host a rugby match against Fiji . 2015, the stadium was a multi-million Tala refurbishment by the Shanghai Construction Group subjected to a historic match against the All Blacks as part of the preparation of both teams for the 2015 Rugby World Cup . At the same time, the capacity was reduced from 12,000 to 8,000 places for safety reasons.
Events
In 2007, Apia Park was the main venue for the 2007 South Pacific Games , which featured athletics , table tennis , badminton , bowls , 7-a-side rugby and touch rugby in the stadium. In addition, it will once again be used for an international event - the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games - and it was the venue for athletics, rugby league and tennis competitions .
