Applixware is the name of an office suite from Vistasource for various operating systems. The Office suite was originally developed by Applix for Unix operating systems.
Because of the widespread use of the free competing product OpenOffice under Unix, the focus of Applixware shifted away from an ordinary office package to a complex data processing solution for corporations. The program package runs on different platforms and operating systems, such as Linux , Windows and many Unix derivatives.
Applixware offers u. a. the following modules:
- Word processing (Applix Words),
- Spreadsheets (Applix Spreadsheets),
- Drawing program (Applix Graphics),
- Presentation (Applix Presents),
- E-mail program (Applix Mail),
- Database (Applix Data),
- Fast application development (Applix Builder),
- HTML editor,
- Macro editor
- as well as a formula editor.
The Anyware Server can be set up under Linux and Solaris and its client function can be used under Linux, Solaris and Windows.
Applixware is chargeable, but a slimmed-down version is available to private Linux users free of charge.
