The Aprath mill in Wülfrath , Mettmann district , was a ban mill . The building is a historical monument. It is entered under number 17 in the Wülfrath list of monuments.

The mill, which belonged to Aprath Castle , was built by Duke Wilhelm III. declared a ban mill by Berg in 1504. The farmers had to have their grain milled here and were thus "banned" . According to another source, it was first mentioned in 1581.

The building burned down in the 19th century and was later rebuilt. There was considerable destruction in the Second World War. The current owner had the building restored.

The upstream mill pond to the north , which is fed by the Brucher Bach , a tributary of the Düssel , has a water surface of around 1.3 hectares . It is part of the Aprather Mühlenteich nature reserve , which includes other areas, especially along the Düssel, and is around 9 hectares in size.
