The aqueduct of Krumhermersdorf (also water bridge ) is an aqueduct built in 1907 in the Zschopau district of Krumhermersdorf .

location

The building is located in Niederdorf near the Hofgütern, where it spans Waldkirchener Straße and Krumhermersdorfer Bach.

Building

The aqueduct is 103 m long and 11 m high. It consists of a five-arched bridge that is made of quarry stone and has a gable roof to protect the water. A water house also belongs to the technical monument .

use

The facility is part of a long-distance water supply for Chemnitz that was built between 1903 and 1908 and is still in operation today. The “ Central Ore Mountains Reservoir System ” is operated by the Neunzehnhain dam of the State Reservoir Administration of Saxony , which is owned by the Free State. The raw water transfer, in which the aqueduct is included, extending from the dam Neunzehnhain I to dam retreats over a total length of 13.17 km. First, a 3 km long water tunnel crosses the Börnichener ridge and with it the Zschopau - Flöha - watershed . Then it is led to the aqueduct parallel to the slope in a 1242 m long canal. After another 340 m long tunnel and an approximately 1 km long section of canal, it comes to the Zschopau aqueduct, which is also listed .

Others

The aqueduct is part of the coat of arms of the former municipality.
