Arūnas Žebriūnas

Arūnas Žebriūnas (born August 8, 1931 in Kaunas , † September 9, 2013 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian film director and screenwriter .

In 1955 Žebriūnas graduated from the Vilnius Art Academy . He then worked in the film business, initially as a production designer. He made his directorial debut in 1960 with the film Paskutinis šūvis . Numerous other feature films for the Lithuanian film studio followed , including a 1966 film adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince . His children's film The Girl and the Echo , according to the lexicon of international films, "[a] a warm-hearted, well-designed study that is characterized by its sensitive observation of mental processes" , won a special jury prize at the 1965 Locarno International Film Festival . The tragic comedy Nutbrot , published in 1978 , is based on Romeo and Juliet , and deals with two lovers whose families are enemies.
