Aradus versicolor is a species of bug from the family of bark bugs (Aradidae).

features

The bugs are 6.6 to 8.5 millimeters long. The flat bugs have a dark brown-black basic color. The apical half of the third antenna segment is colored white. Otherwise the sensors are brown-black. The front side edge of the pronotum is white. The upper approach of the hemielytres and the clavus are also white. The connexive has light spots along the edge. The otherwise dark femora have a white apical tip. The tibia is white at the ends and dark in the middle. The adults are always macroporous (fully winged).

Occurrence and habitat

The species occurs in the Caucasus and Asia Minor . To the west, their occurrence extends across the Balkans to Austria and into the south and east of Germany. There are only scattered finds there, for example in the Upper Rhine Rift .

Way of life

The animals live under the loose bark of dead deciduous trees with fungal attack, especially oak ( Quercus ), poplar ( Populus ) and birch ( Betula ). The host fungi of Aradus versicolor include various porlings . Copula and oviposition take place between April and June.
